During
nearly three-quarters-of-a-century, Rick Magers has traveled
the world - often aboard his own boat - at the controls
of his airplane - on cruise ships - in a new Cadillac
- old jalopy - or an empty boxcar heading somewhere -
anywhere. For 40 years, he always had Dottie with him.
On 9-4-2002 Dottie decided to take a trip without him
- back to Uranus.

Dottie & Rick
...the younger days!
Rick believes everyone
should spend one life with an Aquarius. "She was the most
interesting person that I ever met." In the course of
his travels, Rick worked at many jobs. Firefighter in
Miami - Albuquerque - Las Vegas - Tree surgeon in - Dumas
Arkansas - Riverside California - Carpenter in too many
states to name - Boat Captain in Florida - Nassau - Jamaica
- Liaison: Dept. of Immigration - Haiti - Nassau - Freeport
- Treasure Salvage Diver - Key West - Photographer - Germany
- England - Florida - Chef / Dishwasher / Bartender -
Resorts across the USA - Zinc miner - Tasmania - Smuggler
- Florida and points south. During his travels, Rick was
always writing stories or drawing cartoons - often traded
to bartenders for drinks. During Dottie's final years,
he seldom left her alone, so he began writing to keep
his mind occupied. When BLUE WATER ADVENTURE was completed
he started THE McKANNAHS. During this time he wrote more
than 100 short stories - many were published in magazines
around the world. He's currently working on LADYBUG and
the DRAGON: The Katia Solomon Story - and CARIB INDIAN:
warrior / cannibal, which is a historical novel. He recently
spent several hours with Fred Crane - the last living
major male cast member of the original 1939 film GONE
WITH THE WIND and his lovely new bride Terry-Lynn. Rick
hopes to write a book about Fred's life before-during-after
the film, and he and Terry's life together now. Between
these projects, he's working on a sequel - THE McKANNAHS:
together again.
