The stories in this book are not suggested reading for children. Many of today’s readers in their late teens have not developed the reading habit—which is all it is…a habit. You find yourself with free time and choose what to fill that void with…often by habit reaching for the TV clicker.
If more books were written to offer these young readers something to read that was either fun, thought provoking, or just downright silly; for a giggle or few, perhaps more would give their clicking finger a break and begin using their page turning finger.

This collection of the author's 80
short stories spans a writing career
of half a century. Many have been
published—some won awards.
A love of travel throughout the entire United States and Mexico, where the author met, worked with, drank with, ate with, raised hell with, and lived with at times during the past half century, has provided enough material for several books of western and Indian stories. If we don’t keep writing stories about the days when the west was still wild, and Indians inhabited this beautiful country, then future generations will think it’s always been like it is now…hop in the car and simply go where you want—stop along the way for a burger and fries—take in a movie any ole day of the week—put in your forty hours and go home—whip out the credit card n’ get anything you want…now!

Help keep a piece of Americana alive:
Read a western novel
Jesse McKannah's father,
Sean Brennan McKannah was born in a very small apartment
only a mile from the shipping port of Dublin, Ireland.
It was a foggy fall day in 1780 as he slipped easily
into the hands of the midwife. The stout, middle aged
woman secured his tiny feet in one callused, work-worn
hand, and hoisted him aloft to smack him briskly on
his pink, bare bottom. She became alarmed when, after
three attempts, he wasn't crying out against the abuse
he was receiving at the hands of this giant creature.
She turned his face toward her, and was shocked to see
his miniature eyes staring straight at her. She swore
later that he had a look of contempt on his doll-size
face as he swung his little fists at her.
The same determined
resolve to never let his enemy get the advantage would
serve him well in the newly forming country of America
that he'd call home in a few years.
