Rick's picks of good books.

Hi Grizz Groupies,

Thanks for checking this page to see what books I'm recommending.

Rick's pick for April 2007

If you like a book that will force you to keep turning pages, try one by Steve Alten. I began MEG and read it non-stop. (about a cousin of our Great White...this freight train size megalodon shark has defied scientists by surviving in the deepest depths of the oceans...which isn't a problem atol...UNTIL...it comes up to join us at the beach and elsewhere…Everyone thought the MEG was destroyed...so did I until I began The TRENCH...Holy horse feces...This book has more excitement than JAWS (Sorry, Pete) and ALIEN put together. Stop by Steve Alten's website at: http://www.stevealten.com/index.html

Rick's pick for June, 2006.

Read singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett’s book, A SALTY PIECE OF LAND. Very easy reading and interesting from page 1 until the last page. This book made JB one of only 6 writers that have had the #1 FICTION & NON-FICTION book on the Best Seller list. Hope I’m #7.

Rick's pick for April, 2006.

If you're interested in Florida history then don't miss this novel. A LAND REMEMBERED is an exciting read for any serious reader, but especially Floridians.

Rick's pick for April, 2005.

This book is a MUST READ for everyone who followed the nightmare in Vietnam when our boys were there getting their ass shot off, while we were living the good life.

WEST DICKENS AVENUE

A Marine at Khe Sanh

An ex-soldier who now lives in the Florida Keys recently published this true story. We swapped books during my BLUE WATER ADVENTURE promotional visit to my old VFW Post in Key Largo. This incredible story will send the reader to the legendary battle at (Kay San) for an often humorous, intensely personal, frightening 77 deadly days of combat, the likes of which few soldiers ever experience—THANK GOD.

Order a copy at amazon.com, most bookstores, or for a signed copy call the author—John Corbett—(305) 942-9584

I read half the same night we swapped, and then the next day I pulled my little 83 Toyota motorhome over in Islamorada and read till I finished it—IT’S THAT GOOD.

Rick's pick for February 9, 2005.

Just finished reading Barbara Kingsolver's novel about a Georgia missionary who takes his wife and daughters into the wilds of Africa. THE POISONWOOD BIBLE deprived me of several night's sleep, but was well worth it. Great reading.

Rick's pick for Febuary 17, 2007.

If you can't find a book here at GBP to read, then I suggest that you try my pal's website URL above. I would recommend one of Ed Gorman's books, but I can't single one out. Every book of his that I read is great, and I can't wait to begin VOODOO MOON.

Rick's pick for September 5, 2004.

A pal of mine recently released the first book that's on this new page. Dusty Richards is one of the most prolific western novel writers of all times. Now that Louis L'Amour has gone to the big roundup in the sky, many book reviewers are calling Dusty, "The best western writer in America." He's sure got my vote. He's had 67 novels published under his name and pseudonyms. I was certain that I had the one chosen to be the first on this page, but then a publisher friend told me about Dusty's latest.

Waltzing With Tumbleweeds by Dusty Richards.
180 pages of short western stories.
ISBN 0-9707507-9-X .
Available from Awoc.com.

His new website has some of his books on it and will soon list them all. Go take a look at him, check out some of his books, then 'save' it to your favorites so you can order more later. http://www.dustyrichards.com/
